# Overexertion

You've seen it in Anime a million times. The protagonist is going against a strong foe, and, in a last-ditch effort, the protagonist uses every last drop of their strength to defeat their opponent aaaand... then they pass out.\
\
Overexertion within Anime Universe will be possible. However, **it will be tough for your character to reach the point of overexertion**, almost to the end, where it would have to be done intentionally. \
\
Your character will become overexerted if your [spirit energy](/anime-universe/gameplay-mechanics/leveling-syetem/combat/spirit-energy.md) has dropped down to zero. Once you've become overexerted, your character will be knocked out for 5 minutes (stunned). During this time, you will be susceptible to any typical incoming damage. \
\
If you die, the time you've spent overexerted will not decrease the amount of time you have to wait for your [death penalty](/anime-universe/gameplay-mechanics/death-penalty.md). For example, if you die after being overexerted for 2 minutes, you would still have to wait for your 5-minute death penalty to end.
